Neuhaus, the Orange County’s sixth County Executive and a commander in the United States Navy. It’s no wonder that this area, home to over 400,000 people and the iconic West Point Military Academy, thrives as a hub of activity and leadership.

Steven’s story is nothing short of remarkable—a blend of local pride, global impact, and relentless service. Born and raised in Goshen to immigrant parents from Germany, Steven embodies the quintessential American dream. Steven shared how the academy attracts world-renowned figures—presidents, Nobel laureates, scientists, and musicians—all of whom pass through the region. “I’ve had the privilege of meeting incredible people,” Steven enthused, recounting encounters with personalities like Elon Musk, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Chief Justice John Roberts.

He fondly remembered meeting Gary Sinise, known for his role as Lieutenant Dan in Forrest Gump and for his philanthropic efforts for veterans. “Gary’s an amazing guy who truly gives back,” Steven said, reflecting the deep sense of community that defines the area.

Steven’s dual roles as County Executive and Navy commander form a fascinating dichotomy. “The military is my favorite because those men and women write a check to the government that’s payable with their life,” he said with heartfelt conviction.
