Marco and Erica meet the philanthropist and globetrotter Lisa Chiriseri
It’s Friday and Marco and Erica are happy to end the week with the philanthropist Lisa Chiriseri.
From Zimbabwe, Lisa is a young African leader supporting, among many others, children and women through ad hoc projects. Raised in a family that has always helped those less fortunate, she soon realised her desire to care about others. Indeed, since when she was really young, she was used to ask questions about unfortunate people around her. At the moment, she is doing her best so that every child has the opportunity to continue attending classes, despite covid difficulties.
In addition to the example from her family, her commitment has been influenced by the African culture of hospitality as well. “It takes a village to raise a child” is an African proverb that means that a child is everyone’s child so that everyone has a responsibility and it explains really well the connection between each member of African communities. Unity and hospitality are two key aspects that contributed to make Lisa careful about other’s needs and rights.
Rather fascinated by this perspective and by her commitment, Marco and Erica ask a couple of questions: what does her work consist of? What was her first project about? Lisa has many years of experience behind her and she keeps working hard to make an impact on other people’s lives.
Embarrassing questions are always around the corner: what about her dating life? She has someone special but she is waiting for making it official.
Besides being a philanthropist, Lisa has another big passion: travelling. What did she visit before quarantine? Has she already planned the next trip? While telling some of her experiences, Lisa explains that it’s usually expensive and complicated to travel from Zimbabwe rather than from other places, such as Europe. Moreover, she enjoys travelling alone because she can easily change plans last minute. Does she feel safe travelling alone? Yes, she does. That’s because she normally knows someone local wherever she goes.
Lisa has turned out to be a great example and source of inspiration and Marco and Erica would love to make their contribution to her projects! The commitment of each one could have such a great impact on others’ life!
